Holy Father's Visit to St. Patrick's

August, 2015

My dear Parishioners,

Like all of the Catholic world, I am sure that, like me, you have been following the news about the Holy Fatherís historic trip to Washington in September. If you donít already know, Pope Francisí itinerary includes visiting Saint Patrickís!!

We are humbled and honored that the Holy Father will be bestowing this honor on our historic church. His visit will be on September 24, around 11:15 AM, in conjunction with a Catholic Charity event.

The Archdiocese has allotted Saint Patrickís a total of sixty tickets. Please be assured that I did everything possible to increase the allocation. I had hoped to give at least the parishioners who have various ministries the opportunity to attend and then expand on that group, if I could secure additional tickets. Unfortunately, even with a direct appeal for more, I was given a total of sixty tickets. Last week I put all the names of our parishioners involved in ministries into a bowl and drew names. Those who were fortunate enough to have their names drawn have been notified. I am still hoping and praying that the Archdiocese will allot more tickets, but I am not optimistic.

The good news is that I was just informed that the parish will be getting approximately twenty tickets for the Holy Fatherís Spanish language Mass at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, located at The Catholic University of America. That Mass will be celebrated on September 23, at 3:30 in the afternoon. I will not be getting those tickets until sometime after Labor Day. If you are interested in attending that Mass please email your name and phone number to , no later than September 14. I will then have another lottery based on the submitted names.

While I am excited that the Holy Father is visiting our parish and the Shrine, I am disappointed that I could not get more tickets. Believe me, I tried and will continue to try. Your prayers would be appreciated.

May Godís blessings continue to pour forth upon our Holy Father and upon our parishioners.

God bless, Msgr. Sal
